Increasingly women wear wide belts on the hips whether it is over a long sweater, cardigan, dress or pair of hipster jeans (rather than in the jeans belt loops). We have a fantastic range whether you want to look smart or casual. Look out for our more unusual fastenings too that really add interest to your look. You can of course wear most other belt styles including chain belts and some elasticated corset styles (our single buckle ones for example are designed to be worn on the waist or lower) on the hips by wearing them 10-15cm looser than around the waist.

Large ladies, without an hour glass figure, will find a hip belt works best for them. Big tummies can be hidden with a hip or asymmetric belt that creates a V shape and it adds interest / attractive line if peeping out from a long cardigan or long jacket. The Stephen Collins hip hook belt is the wonder belt that looks good from UK size 10 to size 20 - a great style to try if you don't think you can do belts and you'll be coming back for more colours once you see how fab it is.

Why cut belts on a curve?

Curved belts, that is cut shaped in a curve, fit very nicely on the waist and when worn lower that the waist as they minimise the gap a straight cut belt would give when worn high at the back and low at the front etc. or on the hips. A curved belt is often more expensive as they take more leather to make than straight cut belts.
